In order to set up abbreviations in the description of items in your store.

Go To:

Tools > Administration > Database Maintenance > Abbreviation List

Here you can build your list of Abbreviations

Keep the boxes checked for Enable Abbreviations and Update Description Based on changes to the formal description

Enter the Word or Phrase to be Abbreviated

Choose where in the description the system should search for the word

• Anywhere = will search anywhere in the description
• Beginning Only = will search only the first word

Enter the Abbreviation

Click on the Add Word or Phrase button

When you are done adding words or phrases to be abbreviated

Click on the Close button on the Task Bar,

You will see an information Prompt telling you about Keyword Index Rebuild

Click OK

Your abbreviations are now saved, but not active.

In order to activate your abbreviations you will need to run the Keyword Index Rebuild.

To do so go to:

Tools > Administration > Database Maintenance > Keyword Index Rebuild

A window prompt will appear informing you that this a resource intensive process, and may result in slowing down your system. It is best to run the Keyword Index Rebuild when system activity is low.

If it is not a good time to bog down the system then click the No button and run the Keyword Index Rebuild at better time when it doesn't impact the performance of everyday store operations.

If now is a good time and you wish to continue click on the Yes button.

• a new window will pop up letting your know the Keyword index is being created
• once complete a new window pops up and says The Keyword Index has been created

click on the OK button

You're done.
