Go To Tools > Parameter

This lists all of the Parameter programs at your disposal.

Double Click on the parameter program you want to access.

There are essentially two types of parameters listed here:

Basic parameters that contain only codes and descriptions

Layered parameters that contain codes and descriptions as well as additional elements.  

• Layered parameters will have their own, unique documentation page.

When you access a Basic parameter program, the Find screen will appear.

All existing records for the selected parameter will appear in the grid at the bottom of the screen, unless you choose otherwise.

Each record will display a code and description.

• The default mode in iMerchant is for all parameter records to display in the grid at the bottom of the Find screen once a parameter has been selected.
• However, you have a choice in terms of which parameter records should display.

Once a parameter has been selected and that parameter's Find screen appears, notice the menu choice Options at the upper right of the Find window.

• Click on this, and a submenu appears.
• Click on Prefill Finder With, and a second submenu appears.
• There are four choices:
  • All Parameters: will display all of the parameter records by default.
  • Nothing: will clear the grid of all parameter records until you explicitly search for a specific record using basic Find techniques.
  • Search By Code: will fill in the grid with all records that match what you have begun to key into the lookup field before entering the Find screen.
    • e.g. if for Bindings, you keyed in a "C" in the lookup field
    • all Binding Codes that begin with a "C" will display in the grid.
    • If you access the Find screen without using a lookup field, or if you didn't key anything into the lookup field, no parameter records will display.
  • Search By Description: will fill in the grid with all records that match what you have begun to key into the lookup field before entering the Find screen.
    • e.g. if for Bindings, you keyed in a "C" in the lookup field
    • All Binding records that begin with a "C" in their description will display in the grid.
    • If you access the Find screen without using a lookup field, or if you didn't key anything into the lookup field, no parameter records will display.
  • The Prefill Finder With option is chosen on a parameter by parameter basis.

To Select an Existing Parameter record:

• Double click on the code/description you want.
• The Properties window for that record appears.
• This is where you maintain the code and description.

To Create a New Code and Description:

• From the Find screen for a particular parameter
• Click on the New Task Bar button.
• The Properties window displays for the parameter record.
• Key in the code and description in the appropriate fields
• Click on Save, and exit out of Properties.

To Delete a Code and Description:

• Select the record you wish to delete from the grid at the bottom of the Find screen.
• The Properties window appears.
• Select Edit > Delete from the Menu Bar
• Click Yes

When you are through click on the X at the top right of the Parameter list screen to exit.
