Function Menu

The Function Menu button, is the gateway to a multitude of POS functions

Shipping: allows you to key in bill-to and ship-to address information when an order will be mailed to a customer.

Enter Comment: allows you to key in a special comment that may be unique to the particular transaction you are tendering.

  • Once you click on Comment, a small window appears, where you can key in a message that will appear on the bottom of the invoice receipt.
  • Once keyed in, simply click on the x at the upper corner of this Comment window.
  • During the same transaction, if you want to delete or change the comment
    • Click on Comment again and make the necessary changes.
    • Comments entered in this way will not carry over from one sale to the next.
    • They are unique to the current sale only.

Event Code: allows you to choose from a selection of Sales Events and tag one of the Events to the sale you are tendering.

  • Events can be anything: a Veteran's Day Sale, a day-after Christmas special, etc.
  • Click on Event, in the Administration menu.
  • The Sales Events Find screen pops up, where there is a list of Events you can choose from.
  • Double-Click on the appropriate Event.
  • You are immediately taken back to the POS screen, and the Event you just selected will be listed directly under the Sale Type link.
  • If you need to deselect the Event before tendering the sale
  • Click on Event again and click on the Close button at the right of the screen.
  • The POS screen will immediately reappear, and the Event will no longer appear under the Sale Type link.

Tax Exempt: allows you to make all items in the transaction tax exempt.

Set Tax Area: calls up the Find Tax Rate screen, where you can select the Tax Area, if needed.

Set Sale Type: calls up the Find Sale Type screen, where you can select the Sale Type if needed.

Remove Item from Sale: works the same way as hitting F5.

  • It will remove a selected item from the current transaction.

Add $ to Balance Card: allows you to add to an existing balance card for a customer.

  • This means a balance card (could be a store certificate, gift card, what have you) can be re-loadable, giving the customer the option of not having to purchase a new card.
  • When Add to Balance Card is selected, a small box opens in the upper left portion of the screen.
  • You must key or scan (if Gift Card) in the Account Number and the Amount to be added to the balance card.
  • If you do not know the account number
  • Click on the Look up Account button.
    • This brings up the Find Account window.
    • From there, enter a search criterion and find the account you need.
    • Select it by double-clicking on it.

AR Payment: calls up a window, where the customer's A/R account number must be entered into the Account Number field

  • Account Number: can be looked up by clicking on the Look up Account button.
    • This button brings up the Find Account window.
    • From there, enter a search criterion and find the account you need.
    • Select it by double-clicking on it
      • If the account you enter or select is not on file, a message saying that will appear on the screen, stopping the transaction.
  • Amount: key in the amount the customer is paying against his or her A/R credit balance.
    • Press Enter.
    • The amount will be applied against the customer's credit balance.

Refund Item: enables you to refund the customer for one specific item without sending POS as a whole into Refund Mode.

Refund Lock toggle: puts the POS into Refund Mode.

Discount Item: puts the POS into Discount mode.

Discount Lock Toggle: go back and forth between Discount Mode and regular POS Mode.

Add Discount to All Items: assigns a discount to every item in the transaction.

  • Make sure you select this prior to tendering the sale.

Remove All Discounts: takes all of the discounts away that have been assigned during the sale.

  • Make sure you select this prior to tendering the sale.
  • If security has been activated for this function, you will be prompted to enter the appropriate password before proceeding.

Import From ScanPal File: imports the line items from a selected Scanpal file and brings them into the transaction at the POS.

  • The items will be listed individually, with each item on its own line.
  • To import the file, simply locate it on your system by clicking the Browse button, then selecting it.
  • Once all of the items from the file have been imported, you will be prompted to change the file name.
  • We recommend that you change the file name, as this will prevent the file from being imported a second time.

Import from Product List: allows you to import a Product List into a sale.

  • By checking the Process Files as a Refund box, this also allows you to refund an entire product list via import.

Import from Reserved Stock: allows you to import a Reserve Stock List into a sale.

  • By checking the Process File as a Refund box, this also allows you to refund an entire reserve stock list via import.

Suspend Sale: for those times when a customer leaves their wallet in the car. This allows you to move on to the next customer and suspend the sale as they run out to the parking lot.

  • Just enter in a Customer PO to identify the sale and click on the OK button
  • To bring the sale back up click on the Recall Suspended Sale button in the POS Function Menu

Recall Suspended Sale: allows you to bring back up the previously suspended sale

  • Enter the Sale Id Number
  • Click on OK
  • Select the Sale ID
  • a window will pop up with prompt asking "Do You Want to Recall this Suspended Sale"
  • Click on Yes
  • Your suspended sale is brought back into the POS

Enter Demographic Data: allows you to assign the customers zip code to a sale for future reporting purposes
