Entering Services to be Sold

Updated on

If the service can be scanned (for example, a gift certificate with a barcode), simply scan it.

  • The item you scanned will display in the top portion (gray portion) of the screen.

If the service cannot be scanned:

  • Press F1 (the Find Service shortcut key),

or

  • Click on the Find Menu button
  • Click on the Find Service button.
  • This puts the POS screen into Find Service mode.
    • If you know the short description of the service, its iMerchant code name
    • Enter it in the Service box (far left box in gray portion of the screen) and press Enter.
    • The service immediately displays on the screen.
      • If you don't know the short description
      • Key in either the whole service name or part of the service name, and press Enter.
      • The Find Service screen appears.
      • The first Find Service By field will be set to Description and whatever you keyed in at the POS screen will display under it.
      • Click on the Find button at the right of the screen.
      • A list of matches will display on the bottom of the screen.
    • Double-click on the match you want
    • You will be brought back to the POS, and the service you selected will be listed in the top portion (gray portion) of the screen.

Depending on the service you selected, an Amount box may display at the top of the POS screen upon returning.

The Amount box only displays for services that are tenders, such as gift certificates.

For such tender services...

  • Key in the amount in the appropriate field and then key in the customer's name.
  • Press Enter.
  • The POS screen is updated, showing the gift certificate as an item on the sale.

Note: If the POS touchpad is active on your PC, an online keypad will appear at this point. If you need to key in any information and want to use the keypad, simply make sure the cursor on the POS screen is in the correct field and touch the appropriate values on the keypad (right on the PC screen). This is equivalent to keying in the information. If you don't want or need to use the keypad, just ignore it and proceed as if it were not even there.

For nontender services, such as gift wrapping, no Amount box appears upon selecting it.

The service is simply displayed on the top portion of the POS screen (gray portion).

At this point...

  • Key in the price in the Price field.

Note: Some services, such as coupons, may have been set up in Service Properties to use the Automatic Credit option. This automatically fills in the Qty box with a -1 instead of the standard default of +1. This automatically causes the Price to come in as a negative amount, since the service is a credit to the customer. So, if a coupon is good for $3.00, the Price will be -$3.00--a $3.00 credit to the customer.

You can add services to a sale along with products, and you can mix and match services.

  • For instance, in the same sale, a customer may buy two gift certificates and want something gift wrapped (another service).
  • Add all items and services to the sale and proceed as usual.
