Tips at Register or on Pin Pad

In order to accept Tips you have to set up the Store / Register / and Pin Pad - this set up gives you the ability to only accept tips at a register in the Cafe if you'd like.

1. Store Properties

Go To Tools > Parameters > Store

Select the Store in question

In the POS Tab under Tip Service is where you will set up tips as a Service.

Check the Prompt for Tips Box to activate the field

Click on the Binoculars to set up a new Tip Service and to assign those Tips to the appropriate Accounting information

Save and Close Store Properties

2. Register Set Up

Go To: Tools > Parameters > Register

Select the Register you want to set up tips on.

Within Register Properties you have 4 options for Tips under Prompt For Tip

1. Do Not Prompt - if the register isn't accepting tips - keep this selection

2. In POS - this will pop up a tip prompt on the POS Screen

3. Pin Pad / In POS - tip prompt will appear in both locations

4. Only Prompt on Pin Pad - this option is available to Datacap and Pineapple Payments Integrations

Save and Close Register Properties

3. Pin Pad Setup

Tools > Parameters > Pineapple Device or Datacap Device at the bottom of the device parameters you will select one of four options.

  1. Do Not Offer suggestion: will allow manual Pin Pad entry of a tip amount
  2. Show Percentage: will only show percentage amount as tip option
  3. Show Percentage and Amount: Will show the % and the $ amount of the tip
  4. Show Amount: Will show the $ amount of the tip
  5. Show Amount and Percentage: Same as Percentage and Amount just displayed in a different way

NOTE - if using Datacap you will need to do a Parameter download on the device to activate Tips.

Once you've chosen how you want the tip option to display you can then enter the offered % to calculate tip on in the 3 (Pineapple) or 4 (Datacap) fields

Click Save and Close and you are all set to accept tips in this store and at this register.
