When you wish to exit out of the POS, there are a few options available to you upon closing.
Some options only appear if Drawer Management is enabled.
- Other options do not appear quite the same way if Drawer Management is enabled.
These variations are noted below.
To exit out of POS:
- With the POS screen called up on your PC
- Press the Esc key on your keyboard.
- The POS Closing Menu appears.

- There are several choices on this menu.:
-
Exit POS: does just what it says.
- It closes POS, without changing the date displayed at the top of the POS screen.
- If you need to shut down POS temporarily for an hour, during the middle of a business day, then this selection makes sense.
- If you choose this at night and then reopen the POS the next day
- You will be issued a prompt that the date has changed to the next day.
- Exit POS does not have the POS automatically change the date after midnight.
- You will need to do this manually.
- Therefore, it is best to use Exit POS only if you plan on reopening the POS during the same business day.
- Note: This option does not display if Drawer Management is enabled.
- Instead, an option called Lock Cash Drawer displays.
- Lock Cash Drawer works the same way.
- It closes POS without changing the POS display date.
-
Sign Off: will do just what it says--sign you off from POS.
- If you select this, the sign-on box will appear, and you (or someone else) will need to sign back on to the system.
- Note: This option does not display if Drawer Management is enabled.
- Instead, an option called Sign Off and Remove Drawer displays.
- This works the same way as the Sign Off command.
- When Sign Off and Remove Drawer is selected, a tender summary for the drawer will be created automatically.
- If you select this, the sign-on box will appear, and you (or someone else) will need to sign back on to the system.
- Sales Receipt Summary: will print the Sales & Receipt Report for the current day's transactions.
-
End Shift and Exit: works the same as the Exit POS option above,
- Except here you are also ending a shift.
- Shifts are optional, you can ignore this close-out option if you don't care to separate your POS day into shifts
- If you ignore this option, each new day will be shift 1, for each register you use.
- Shifts are assigned to each POS register, each day.
- If you never exit a shift, each POS register will always start and end each day with a shift number of 1.
- If you do exit out of a shift, the next time you sign in to the register in question during the same POS day, the shift number will increase by 1.
- So, to start the day, shift number for applicable register is 1, then 2, then 3, etc., depending on how many times you end the shift and then sign in again later.
- When you Close the Day, you also automatically end a shift.
- Shift summaries will be printed automatically when a shift is ended, or when you Close the Day, unless you have set the system not to print these summaries.
- Note: This option will only display in Drawer Management if a single cashier is signed in.
- If two cashiers are signed in, this option will not appear on the menu.
- One of the cashiers will need to sign off before it will become available.
-
Close the Day: will close the POS and keep track of the date.
- In other words, if you reopen the POS on the same date, the system will provide a quick prompt to that effect.
- If you do not reopen the POS until the next day, the date will have automatically updated itself within POS, and you will be prompted of this.
- When you are closing down the POS for the night, this is the choice you will probably want to select, as it keeps the POS display date and the actual date automatically in sync with each other.
- Every time you select this option, the Sales & Receipt Report will automatically print for the current day's transactions.
- Note: This option will only display in Drawer Management if a single cashier is signed in.
- If two cashiers are signed in, this option will not appear on the menu.
- One of the cashiers will need to sign off before it will become available.
-
Close and Start Next Day: means that, once you close out of POS, the next time you open it, the POS date will be automatically moved ahead one day, even if that day is still tomorrow.
- If you want to push the day one day ahead for any reason, then you would select this choice upon closing out of POS.
- Within Store Maintenance you can remove the Close and Start Next Day option from the menu altogether
- If you wish to hide the option Check the Hide Close and Start Next Day Menu Selection box in the Store Properties window
-
Exit POS: does just what it says.
