Product Images / Cover Photos and Product Image Naming Convention

Updated on

Product images can be added to each product for use / display in IMRCNHT.  You can use the images to display in a product viewer, email notifications of POS receipts & customer order notifications or use in an export file for sending data to your website.

Product Image Naming Convention

Product images should be named either JPG or JPEG if you want to use custom product images.

Use the following criteria:

If the product meets ALL of the following criteria:

NEW Product

- Product Number is Numeric

- Product Number is Greater than 10 characters

- Product Number is Less than 14 characters

Then use the PRODUCT NUMBER as the Image name (img.venstock.com/MYSTORE/12345678912.jpg)

Otherwise:

We will use the product SKU generated in IMRCHNT such as:

    (img.venstock.com/MYSTORE/2000020321152.jpg)

** If your Product Number starts with either 978 or 979 than the system will use images from INGRAM.  It will generate an image URL such as:  https://CWSImages.ingramcontent.com/cdsImages/imageloader?...

How to Setup Product Images

Product #'s that start with 979/978 will have photos displayed automatically from our Ingram data.
All other products are matched by ISBN / Product Number along with the SKU if needed.
--- Example: ProductNumber.jpg     (OR .jpeg)

1. Go to SYSTEM OPTIONS and fill in the image settings on the main tab.

2. Confirm Non-New Book images are named by their UPC #, Ex: 400000123.jpg  (NOT 979/978#'s in Ingram)

3. FTP ALL existing images to the FTP IMAGE LOCATION (set above in system options).

*** YOU ARE READY TO GO! ***

4. Additional images can be added one at a time via the functions below or FTP'd in Bulk to Image FTP.

Adding Product Images to a Product

Using the PRODUCT FINDER, search for any type of product in your system.

Right click on any product in the search results, then click Product Image Finder. (SHOWN BELOW)

Use the button - Pick Local File to Use for Image... to find an image to use for the product.

If you have the SOURCE set to WEB, the system will FTP the photo to the DEFAULT FTP IMAGE LOCATION found below in System Options automatically and rename the photo to the UPC Number (SKU or Product #).

Once you have added a main photo, use the - MODIFY PHOTO button to update the existing photo.

Photo Gallery: Add up to 5 additional images for each product with the - ADD NEW button.

Clicking the [X] next to the corresponding photo will delete the photo.

If you do not have an image for the product, switch to the SEARCH WEB tab to search Google by product UPC code or description if the UPC is empty. You can then save the file to your local network by right clicking on the file, then come back to the tab above and pick the file you saved.
