IMRCHNT for Social Media

Updated on

IMRCHNT can put your books on Facebook, Instagram, Google, Pinterest and Bluesky, with every listing linking back to your own store website. Once it's set up, it runs on its own each night.

Available in: IMRCHNT 25.12.01i and 26.09.17c or newer.

What you need
A store website with a page for each book (for example https://yourstore.com/book/9780000000000)
IMRCHNT 25.12.01i or 26.09.17c or newer

For the catalog feed: a Meta Business account (Facebook and Instagram), a Google Merchant Center account and/or a Pinterest business account
For Bluesky posts: a Bluesky account for your store

IMRCHNT support will help you set up either feature. Contact us before you start, and we'll set up the feed's web address for you.

Social Catalog Feed
Each night IMRCHNT builds a file of your in-stock books and puts it at a private web address. Facebook, Instagram, Google and Pinterest check that address every day and update your shop. Sold-out books drop off and new arrivals appear on their own.

Set it up in IMRCHNT

  1. Open the IndieCommerce export screen and add a new record.

  2. Set Type to Social Catalog Feed.

  3. Enter a Feed File Name (for example books).

  4. Enter the Product Link Pattern: the address of a book page on your website, with {isbn} where the ISBN goes. Example: https://yourstore.com/book/{isbn}

  5. Choose the Selection Query for the books to include (for example, all new books in stock).

  6. Choose the FTP setting support gave you, then click Save.

  7. Click Create and Send to make the first feed.

Support will help you schedule it to run every night.

Connect your accounts

  • Facebook and Instagram: in Meta Commerce Manager, add a catalog, choose Data feed, paste your feed address and set it to update daily.

  • Google: in Google Merchant Center, add a product source using a file from a link, paste your feed address and set a daily fetch.

  • Pinterest: in your Pinterest business account, go to Catalogs, add a data source and paste your feed address.

Each site reviews the books the first time, which can take a few days.

Social Posts – Bluesky

Each night IMRCHNT posts one to three of your books to Bluesky. Each post shows the book's cover, title and price, with a link to the book on your website. A book is never posted twice.

Step 1 – Make a Bluesky app password

1. Sign in to your store's account at bsky.app.
2. Go to Settings > Privacy and Security > App Passwords.
3. Click Add App Password and name it IMRCHNT.
4. Copy the password it shows (it looks like abcd-efgh-ijkl-mnop). Bluesky shows it only once.

IMRCHNT uses the app password, never your real Bluesky password. To stop IMRCHNT posting at any time, delete the app password in Bluesky.

Step 2 – Set it up in IMRCHNT

Approving posts

Posts that aren't approved within 21 days are removed.

Frequently asked questions

Does it cost anything?
No. The catalog feed and Bluesky posts are included in IMRCHNT, and the listings on Facebook, Instagram, Google, Pinterest and Bluesky are free. Paid ads on those sites are optional and billed by them.

Do sales go through Facebook or Instagram?
No. Every listing and post links to your own website, so the sale happens on your site.

Which books are included?
The books in the Selection Query you choose that are in stock. Books without a cover or price are left out until they have one.

Can we change the wording of Bluesky posts?
Yes. Edit any post before approving it, or ask support to change the standard wording.

Can it post to Facebook, Instagram or X automatically?
Not at this time. The catalog feed puts your books in your Facebook and Instagram shops, and you can tag them in your own posts.
