Updated on

The following steps are necessary in order to log into the [i]merchant ftp site:

Locate the file on the FTP site for the release you would like to install. (it may change by the time you read this, you may always grab the latest version on the ftp site) Save the file in a location that is accessible to all of your PCs, or, place it on a thumb drive.

This must be installed on the server first, then on the POS PC’s, followed by lookup and receiving… For each of the device (server and PC) you must uninstall the existing [i]merchant program and then install the new release. Use Windows Control Panel, Add Remove Programs to remove the old version. Within the folder that was download is a file called setup. Run this to install the new release.

Install the release on the server first since there is a database update. After the new release is installed launch [i]merchant on the server. You will be prompted to update the database, select yes. The database update screen will ask for a user and password for the database.
