Interested in exporting/importing POS data to your online store, below are some starter questions:
- We have the tools built into [i]merchant to push your inventory out to something as simple as a ‘.csv’ file format (comma separated value). What does your web site need (file format) from [i]merchant?
- Your online store, what is this online store? What’s going to be available from the store?
- How do we get the file to the web site?
- What fields are you looking for to come from [i]merchant? Description, product number, SKU, price, quantity, ?????
- What products are you going to make available to the web store? The whole inventory?
- When something sells on the web, how are you notified that the product sold?
- The assumption is that if you put 10 widgets up on the web, that when one of these widgets sells; you want both the web store and [i]merchant to know that there are now only 9 widgets in the store and on the web.
- How frequently do you want both the web site and [i]merchant to update each other?
- How is the web going to handle the sale of that widget? Is the web somehow going to let you know that you need to go to the shelf and pick this item? Are you mailing it out or is the web site mailing it out)
- Are you receiving payment on the web or in the store?
- If you are ‘selling’ the product in the store, is it being paid for in the store? How are you planning of getting shipping information so you know where to send the product, or, order tracking back to the customer or web?
